Japan Music Foundation JESC
Founded in 1984, the Japan Music Foundation JESC is a public service
organization under jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education, Culture,
Sports, Science and Technology. Its objective is to play a positive
role in developing Japan's musical culture by organizing music festivals
and concerts, supporting the activities of Japanese musicians and
promoting musical projects that involve Japan with other countries.
In order to accomplish these goals, JESC's articles of incorporation
include provisions for the following activities:
1. Holding music festivals and concerts
2. Holding master classes and other events of musical instruction
3. Promoting young people's involvement with music
4.Conducing research in the field of music
5.Publishing in the field of music
6.Organizing international musical events
Presently, the most prominent of JESC's wide-ranging activities within
its mandate are:
* The Kirishima International Music Festival and Master Classes
An annual event jointly presented by JESC, Kagoshima Prefecture and
the Kagoshima Prefecture Culture Center Foundation
* The Hamamatsu International Piano Academy
An annual event planned and organized by JESC, under the sponsorship
of the city of Hamamatsu and the foundation that runs the municipal
arts center, Act City Hamamatsu
* "The 100 Pianists" series
Production of the decade-long piano recital series, "The 100
Pianists," held at Saitama Arts Theater under the sponsorship
of the Saitama Prefecture Foundation for Promotion of the Arts
* The Russian Arts Festival in Japan
Liaison for this 3-month series of concerts to be held this fall in
honor of the three hundredth anniversary of the founding of the city
of St. Petersburg.
* Publication of music scores in association with the Polish Music
Center and Supraphon of the Czech Republic.
JESC stands for "Japan," "exchange," "seminars"
and "concerts"; keywords that signify our commitment to
the work of promoting musical culture through international human
exchanges, seminars and concerts. |
